I graduated from high school in 2014. I thought that I wanted to be a Chemistry teacher when I graduated. So I went to a private college in West Virginia. I joined a sorority and made some really good friends. Well after 3 and a half years with surprisingly only one change in major I decided that college was not what I should be doing with my life right now. So I left West Virginia, my sorority and friends and came home; took a semester off then decided that maybe I can at least finish my Associate Degree. So I went to a local community college for a semester. College is really not what I need in my life apparently. So I just continued to work at my job in retail and start paying off those dreaded student loans.
One night while my family is sitting around the dinner table my dad asks my sister what she wants to do when she grows up; she says either a soccer player or a photographer. I scoff and say I wish I could be a photographer, that would be the best job. My dad then says well why not? So over the next couple of weeks, that's all I can think about; well why not? So I mention to my family that I really would like to become a photographer. And here's where the ball starts rolling.
I have now started taking community education classes through my local community college on Photography to increase my knowledge and plan on taking some business classes on how to start my own business in a couple of years.
Photography has surprisingly always been circulating around me my whole life. My grandfather was a photographer in World War II then had his own business of repairing optical equipment, which included cameras on occasion. Almost all of my dad's side has a camera that they take everywhere with them. On one of my high school youth mission trips, I borrowed my aunt's camera and took over 1,500 pictures during the week and had a blast. Then for 2 summers in college, I was a summer camp photographer. I had a job in photography and I didn't even think about starting my own business!
Join me to see what I am learning and eventually start to see the different types of photography I can take.
